Places to visit :

1. Chennakesava Temple : The Chennakesava Temple (Kannada: )originally called Vijayanarayana Temple (Kannada: ) was built on the banks of the Yagachi River in Belur, an early capital of the Hoysala Empire. Chennakesava literally means "handsome Kesava" and is a form of Hindu God Vishnu. It took 103 years to complete. The Veeranarayana Temple and the smaller shrines are well worth a visit. Belur is 40 km from Hassan city and 220 km from Bangalore. Chennakesava literally means "handsome Kesava" and is a form of Hindu God Vishnu.

2. Hoysaleswara temple : Hoysaleswara temple is a temple dedicated to Hindu God Shiva. It was built in Halebidu during the Hoysala Empire rule in the 12th century by King Vishnuvardhana. Halebidu is 16 km from Belur, 31 km from Hassan and 149 km from Mysore.King Vishnuvardhana Hoysaleswara, though interestingly, the construction of the temple was initiated and financed by wealthy Shaiva citizens of the city, prominent among whom were Ketamalla and Kesarasetti. The temple building activity was taken up in competition to the construction of the Chennakesava Temple at Belur, a Vaishnava temple. This magnificent temple - guarded by a Nandi Bull - was never completed, despite 86 years of labor. It is one of the largest temples dedicated to God Shiva in South India.

3. Shravanabelagola : Here is the 17m high monolith of Lord Bahubali - the world's tallest monolithic statue. Thousands of devotees congregate here to perform the Mahamastakabhisheka -a spectacular ceremony held once in 12 years, when the 1000 -year- old statue is anointed with milk, curds, ghee, saffron and gold coins. The last Mahamastakabhisheka held in 2005 A.D. It is considered to be the world's largest monolithic stone statue and was erected by Chavundaraya, a general of King Gangaraya. The base of the statue has an inscription in Prakrit, dating from 981 AD. Shravanabelegola is 158 kms from Bangalore and situated 51 kms southeast of Hassan, this is one of the most important Jain pilgrim centers.

4. Ramanathpur Temples : This is a holy town on the banks of River Cauvery. This temple town is also known as “Dakshin Kashi” for its many temples that are at the banks of the river. There are over 5 temples within walking distance of one another.

5. Sri Ranganatha Hill : This temple is recently constructed and is situated on top of a hill. The Hanuman statue. The temple itself is of recent architecture. The drive to the hill is very picturesque and the road is very good.
